Freshwater Shortage - What's the issue?

I also experienced some of the same issues as Cara and was really frustrated on Sunday afternoon. Every step was time consuming, but in the end it is really rewarding to see the finished product. The editing was the most laborious and if there was more time, I would like to search for video footage to add. It was interesting to learn more about this issue and try to "sell" the idea to the public as it is our future. My students were impressed at the time spent on the project and the message being delivered, but they even suggested that video would have captured their attention further and enhanced the overall effort.

  1. This is a very well-done video all of you. I appreciate the effort you put in to select quality images, cite them properly, and support them with interesting statistics and suggestions. I think everything really works well together and there aren't any weaknesses. A very thorough job done and your script shows that most of the work was done prior to video editing, which is as it should be. I'm going to share this with my Grade 4 teachers who are currently doing their Water Warriors unit as a great sample.

  4. This is indeed a thought provocative and well represented video. I got to know more about shortage of fresh water and how this problem can be solved by different small and big actions by us.

I wonder if at the beginning of this video could give some insight of fresh water and water cycle. For instance freshwater is water containing less than 1000 milligrams per litre of dissolved solids, most often salt.

Also there is common belief that earth's surface-water bodies are renewable resources, but they depend on other parts of the water cycle. The amount of water in rivers and lakes is always changing due to inflows and outflows. Inflows to these water bodies will be from precipitation, groundwater seepage etc. Outflows from lakes and rivers comprises of evaporation and withdrawals by humans for different purpose.

I totally agree that we need to increase awareness towards fresh water shortage issue. I also think that governments should make policies towards saving fresh water and make long term plan in the right direction.

How long living beings would be able to survive with the continued increase in the contaminated water? To what extent, it(water problem) can be solved by humans?
